PSYCHOLOGICAL FLEXIBILITY

Our thoughts can be powerful and overwhelming and often times we see the world through these thoughts.  The problem is just because we have a thought doesn't mean the thought is true. Tell yourself right now, "I can't raise my arm" Now, prove that thought wrong.  See, just because we have a thought doesn't mean it is reality.  Psychological rigidity is when we can't see thoughts for what they are and we become fused with them.  Beginning to notice thoughts and practice creating space from them is the first step.

THE HERE AND NOW

Ask yourself, in this moment, right here and now, "are you okay?" You may not feel okay emotionally and perhaps there is some physical pain with that.  But, can you take a breath into your lungs? Can you move your body? Are you unthreatened in this moment? We spend most of our time engaged in the future or reflecting on the past with little actual time spent in the present.  Mindfulness can help anchor us in the here and now.

SELF-COMPASSION AND HEALING THE INNER CHILD

How would you define your relationship with yourself?  Are you kind? Is it a loving one?  What would it be like if this relationship was basked in self-love and self-compassion?  What would happen if we could dethrone the inner critic and then remind ourselves that we are light, love and most of all, worthy?  Inside, the inner child who carries the hurt from the past needs some nurturance and to be reassured.  Developing a self-compassion practice can help you on this path of healing.
